They made up "gods" to fill in the gaps of their knowledge. All "modern" religions can be traced back to 4 maybe 5 "religions" . The Greeks, the Egyptians, the Chinese and the Japanese(although they are very similar, so could be taken as one). Christians, Jews and Muslims are all interconnected when looked at historically. The bible(another fairy tale) was written and decided upon by a converted Roman emperor who was dying and wanted to believe in some "god".
Unfortunately all "religions" today and in history were developed for one reason and one reason alone-domination of the people and wealth!!
All historical societies based on one religion or another have ultimately failed and replaced by another "religion". As soon as this world wakes up to this fact, the sooner we can all live in some kind of peace.

ALL religion is a sick concept put in place by the intelligencia of civilisations throughout human history to control of the masses by way of fear. Nothing else. The world would be so much better if mankind used the evolved and evolving compassion and common decency.
In addition, when a tyrant of any race is detected, Pol Pot, Hitler, Papa Doc, Stalin and on and on, assassination would be the only solution.
