SAN JOSE — Two people suspected of robbing a massage business with a gun earlier this year have been arrested, police said Thursday.
Detectives caught up to the two 20-year-old Fresno residents in that city on Tuesday, according to a statement from San Jose police Lt. Ashley Weger. They arrested the two on suspicion of armed robbery and kidnapping and placed them in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, police said.
The arrests stemmed from a Jan. 20 robbery at the business in the 2000 block of Story Road. According to police, one of the two people entered the business and paid for a massage service. Police said immediately thereafter the second person entered, armed with a gun, and demanded money from the two employees.
According to police, the first suspect then forced the two employees into different rooms, holding them against their will, and the second suspect took cash and other items. Police said the two then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a third person.
Authorities did not release any information about the third suspect Thursday.
Investigators later uncovered that one of them had been tied to other similar armed robberies in other cities, including one in Milpitas, police said. They added that detectives found a replica gun and evidence of the crime when they searched the Fresno residence where the two were arrested.
Detectives continue to probe for information. They asked anyone with information about the robbery to contact Det. Annania Marte by emailing [email protected] or by calling 408-277-4166.
