I'm not trying to make the case that no one has ever picked up a disease, broken up their family, etc... these things also happen in the non-hobbying world as well. It's just that I've barely read about it on the board at all, and the fact that I would need to go back a number of years to do so is telling. This anecdotal worst-case scenario does not seem to be the position most massageplanet.net members find themselves in, including presumably Sweety himself.

As many have commented, it's all about being responsible, keeping balance, knowing your limits, etc. As with alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc. there are a minority of people who are not able to regulate themselves in this manner. I am empathetic to the plight of addicts, so I would add, if you can't opt out, then get help. But here again, don't make your problem my problem: I believe that legislating and infringing upon my freedom is precisely what Sweety implies with comments like this:

It's the MPA(squared)'s job to make you feel better, not to make you feel bad about yourself. Men don't go to MPs/SCs/SPs looking like they don't have money to spend, they go there looking like high rollers.

I think just about any service you can think of is available if you look for it. The more reputable places seem to try keeping a slightly more limited menu. Which makes sense. If you want FS, in theory you should be going to a SP rather than a MP. On the other hand, I think for a lot of guys part of the thrill is seeing how far things go beyond the "norm".

And I'm being quite literal when I say no one really seems to know how common STDs are. Trying to collect information like that can't be easy, considering the number of people that don't know or don't want to know. I think most will agree that, assuming you're in a place where actual intercourse is discouraged and rare, MPs are somewhat less risky than SPs. But I've seen claims ranging from SPs actually being safer than casual sex with a random member of the populace, up to sex with SPs being equivalent to playing with a loaded gun, and everything in between.

Funny you'd assume that. Of course I've sent guys away that are in too deep! Who wants that?! Do u know how consuming clients like that can be? How overwhelming that level of imbalance can make an MPA feel? Also, especially for me since I started posting on this board, how many deep discussions I have had with guys that are in way over their heads? Councelling someone through retirement is also part of the job. Its a reality every MPA will face. The good ones care enough to see the shift in a cients needs and adapt. Each of you come to us for reasons deeper than your penis. Our job is to meet those needs. Period.

If I was an MPA starting off, I'd like to have someone like MPAsquared give me advice on perspective and balance, and to avoid those risks, as well as plan for the future. She's now an owner, and probably faced the same concerns as any MPA would getting into this business.

As for society surviving without MPs or SPs, are you joking? If I may allude to an expression specificially used for SPs, 'they don't call it the oldest profession for nothing'.

The industry will never be prohibited, especially in light of the recent court decision.

Anyways, the OP's example is an extreme situation, but it's wise to take note of it or perspective and a reminder of the downside, as all of us must follow what HOF and other have said 'everything in moderation'.

I'm not talking about other countries. Relatively speaking, the industry thrives here regardless of archaic laws because it mostly involves consenting adults who participate in it in legal and/or discreet ways that do not harm the public at large. LE can't and doesn't prohibit what goes on between consenting adults that do not cause a disturbance. Morality can't be legislated.

As for myself, I'm single and enjoying my time. I would prefer to meet a total-package of a woman that would give me no excuse to hobby (she would also have to be as openminded as me). I suppose until that happens, I need my sexual outlet. But I don't need another controlling or pussy-whipping GF who will stress me to an early death (and I'm not against monogamy).

Everything in moderation is ok. You need other things in life to keep you busy or entertained. You also need the love of family and friends. You can't just have the hobby. Frankly, I find hobbying to keep me sharp and young. Sex is healthy for you. But I'm aware of its downside too.

I think it's posssible that many hobbyists at some point did the same thing and felt the same way you did. Thanks for your honest admission.

Like I said, everything in moderation. Dating or going to bars (if you can) to diversify your love life is another way to break up any compulsion.

Someone else said that abstinence also helps make the next experience even better or more rewarding. It goes with moderation.

Working out, starting new projects that simplify your life or make it more comfortable or profitable, are other things to do to keep things in balance. You will feel better when you hobby the next time, that you have other accomplishments under your belt. Hobbying should only be the reward, not your life.

He's probably way off on the number of guys. Probably a fair bit of regulars in there so it's not quite 8,624 distinct individuals. BUT, you're right about us being the other side of the equation. The mileage and exposure of the guys adds exponentially to the risk.

Anyone who believes that medical testing requirements provides any measure of protection is delusional. I've heard stories from MPAs and MP managers that make me want be celibate. Almost.

I will give my own opinion regarding hobbyist as i'm a hobbyist ( wish i could be a provider too ). As long as the hobbyist can pay his rent/mortgage/auto (cost of living) + provide for his family (if he has one) then manage to get some hobbying on the side, and has a steady supply of cash A.K.A JOB, no problem. Now if he starts missing payments on his rent/mortgage/ sold his car, starts missing work/lose his job, feels jittery because he can't hobby and starts selling his kid's (if he has one) toys, ps3, wii, xbox, games, hockey equipments yadda yadda yadda then it's time for an intervention.

always remember...this industry has a wide open door. you can always leave and you can always comeback.

The industry is prohibited, in many places and through different means. It will never be eliminated because of basic human instinct. Sex and money are powerful motivators.

I wouldn't be so dismissive of Emily's comments. She's been in the trenches, and seen the good and bad on both sides.

I'm sure she also knows of more than a few guys who have taken an unhealthy obsession with the hobby, or girls who have gotten caught up (and stuck) in the lifestyle.

Let's face it, if we're on this board, we're pretty hardcore. All of us.



The money in the industry makes the lifestyle much more accessible.
