I don’t think it’s legal to change license requirements for an already operating business if they went through a process when they first opened. That is if they possess a license already, the city changing classification with little or no notice should be challenged.
Then again I’m only speculating as I don’t have any info on any history or all the facts of what is actually going on.

In terms of zoning, if a business established before the change of zoning, they are allowed to continue provide they have not closed the establishment. This is known legal non confirming use.

Technically businesses can file a charter challenge against the city. However the onus is on the business to prove they are legitimate and legal. I doubt HE spas are considered a s legal from the point of the law

kJ will be sweating. Fwer shilling jobs for his especially majority of his clients are located in the areas being affected. Fewe spas maybe a good thing for customers. It filters out pork chops and garbages

April was the (supposed cutoff) date mentioned in the letters I believe. The assumption is probably that if they don't get the required licenses that they will have to close shop, so the girls won't be working there anymore

Wont be that quick, city works slow.

They will probably stay open, get a few more small fines.

But after another month get slapped with a big fine and a order to comply.

Then yeah they will have to close. Property owners will also get pressured to force them to close

Sure, but in this case it seems like people just want to know what's happening. There aren't many other details out there. It wouldn't surprise me if the spa owners themselves haven't decided on what to do yet

For my understanding, something already happened in YR since last year.
This time the radar focused on EBC massage parlours, where are helped by many promoters. Therefore the noise is louder this time. In this case, the owners have two options:
Hire a lawyer to file lawsuit against the city (it may last a bit longer)
Second, close down the business at the current location

By-laws are run by cities. Right now it seems to be only RH sending out letters, but that doesn't mean other cities won't follow suit. Most cities are big fans of monkey-see-monkey-do

Maybe someone affiliated with IU/BU can chime in since they span two cities (although it sounds like other things are happening between the locations, as hinted on their thread)

I won't be surprised if some spas copy what Reinella spa is doing now instead of closing down. They can change to foot massage and scalp massage.

Few points raised here.
1. Notices were served mainly in the 155, 165, 160 East Beaver area where it is virtually a Red Zone of spas. I am sure it started to attract a lot of attention PLUS the amount of attention being drawn to to Spas themselves through this site.
2. Some of these notices were for zoning violations which is a big probem. The one for licence violations are a bit less serious.
3. Owners themselves don't even know how to react let alone all of us here.
4. As of now it is only within this area, but I am sure it will start to expand beyond the East Beaver Creek area.

As mentioned before, the whole situation is very fluid. All spa owners are hoping for the best but preparing and hoping the worse will not be as bad as it is make out to be.

Seems they are doing very well. In terms of bookings more then before the switch BUT the girls are making less - no service, no tips. Good for the owner.

It all depends on how you deal with the ByLaw officers. They are nice to you if you are nice and polite with them. Otherwise they'll come after your ass no matter where you move.

???????!!!!!! Like what? a spa will have to provide a list of their appointments, so there is a some sort of $ trail. A digital footprint...

They are already required to keep a receipt log for all customers.
