It's a story about Japan in the recession, so what? There are some villages for homeless, but that doesn't equate to the entire country becoming so poor that it's on a par with Thailand. The article says Japan's unemployment rate is 5% (which is much better than the US) and nowhere but nowhere does it suggest Japan is on the way to becoming a third world country. Read the third comment after the story, that says it all.

Time has changed and the conditions aren't good anymore. Just watch the lack of activity of this section. No need to help, better pray hard and wish you luck.

If you don't like criticism, don't say anything stupid for a good start. Japan is the 2nd economy in the world just after the US.
Plus if you want to waste your time and money, go there and see how you can't fit to this twilight zone.

I've been to Japan 4 times. In term of the p4p scene, the prices are a big turnoff for me. If I want to pay that much, I would just fly to Vegas and have my fun there. I've found out that, it's easier to get Japanese girls in the U.S. than in Japan.

I was in the Tokyo area. My stop was along the Yamahote JR line. Very useful route, it will take you around the tokyo area and it's a loop so you can't really get lost on it. I didn't venture far into Ueno even though the other thread looked encouraging. I went to the park to see the Cherry Blossoms. I didn't look around the Shinjuku area. I visited Asakusa, Shimbashi, Ueno, Shibuya, and Akihabara.

The place I found the special was about an hour and a half out of Tokyo. I was in the Atsugi area for a little while. I saw a place that had a pretty big sign and a URL listed. So I checked out the website and found the times for the special.

I probably should have tried to find a regular Japanese girl somewhere. My Japanese skills aren't to great so I wasn't too confident for talking to anyone. I heard maybe the Ropppangi area might be good for finding girls. I didn't get a chance to go this past trip, but from the forum it sounds like a good place to check out. But, there did seem to be a reason to be catious of some of the girls.

I also wanted to check out a soapland, but didn't get the chance. I think that would be pretty awesome. The forum says that Yoshiwara would be the place for that. I looked at a map and it would probably be like 2-3 hours by train from the Tokyo area. I'm not too sure about the rates, as I've never been to one yet, but from what I remember reading it's pretty high, upwards to 80,000 yen or more? I think it would be worth it though, at least once.

Japan getting cheap? I think you're dreaming. The country was in deflation for 10 years before the eco-crisis and didn't change anything for us.

Comparing Japan and Thailand, it's like comparing USA and Colombia. Be real please.

Do you stay in Tokyo? I wonder if a smaller city is better. What is up in Sapporo? What about the Shinjuku area? Did you go there? I heard the police are all over it hard. I prefer to find an out of the way place not so commercialized.

I think with a little research, one can plan a very sucessfull and rewarding trip to Japan. Maybe expensive, but rewarding. Japan is going to get cheaper I think. Thier economy is entering a period of deflation. Japan could get as cheap as Thailand.....which has gotten much more expensive than when I first went.

I'm not very experienced, but I just got back from my second trip to Japan last week and did learn a few things. I may be pretty far off, but this is what I observed.

First off, it's a good idea to try and read all the info on this forum. There's lots of good stuff there. It did help me a bit. Knowing japanese helps a lot. There will be places that say "Japanese only". I got turned away from quite a few places. The young hot girls will most likely be the ones for Japanese only. Prices seem to be a bit steep too. If you don't know japanese, you should try to find a friend who can show you around.

There are many places, but obviously they will all be in Japanese, so it will be harder to find if you can't read the signs. You will probably find quite a few of them close to the train stations. Just look for the more shady looking areas. Usually there's a lot of bars in the area too.

Look for places that have "lunch time" specials. I got a great deal for 5,000 yen 30 min. Non FS, but still fun (almost all the places in Japan are not FS, since FS is illegal).

Watch out for the chinese massage girls. I guess it's because it was winter, but they were all wearing these puffy jackets. They generally are standing at corners and will walk up to people saying "masaji". Though those may be the easiest to find and most foreigner friendly, they are also very very expensive. They will try to lure you with a 3,000 or 6000 yen massage. Once you reach the establishment then they will try to squeeze as much money out of you as they can. After having given them 6,000 yen they will ask you if you want a "special massage" for 10,000 yen. They will keep this up. 10,000 more to touch, 10,000 more for cbj, 30,000 more for fs. but by then that's already 66,000. (I didn't go for it, waaaaay to expensive) If you say you don't have the money they will ask if you have a credit card, or where you're staying. I tried a second time somewhere else but couldn't get a good deal so I stopped at the regular massage. Maybe if you're smart and firm in the beginning you can negotiate something better from the start. I just said, forget those people already.

Escorts are expensive. Around 35,000 - 40,000 yen, but you'll probably get what you want.
