Two women have been arraigned on prostitution and solicitation charges at a Macomb Township massage parlor after an investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
Shu-Juan Liu, 58, and Feng Xiang, 59, both of Sterling Heights, were arraigned Friday in 41A District Court in Shelby Township. Both were charged with prostitution/accosting and soliciting (misdemeanors). Two other women had been taken into custody after an earlier investigation. They were released but one of them could face charges later.
According to the Sheriff's Office, both of the women worked at the Relax Spa Massage business, located in the 47000 block of Hayes Road in a strip mall on the northeast corner of Hayes and 21 Mile Road. Tenants of the strip mall said the business is known as Asian Springs Sunny Massage. Macomb Township assessing records identify the business as Spring Relax Spa.
On Feb. 21, the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office Sheriffโs Enforcement Team (S.E.T.) served a search warrant upon the Relax Spa Massage Business. The business had no clients at the time the search warrant was served, however four women were taken into custody for prostitution crimes. S.E.T. received a tip that the Relax Spa Massage was allegedly operating as a house of prostitution and began to investigate the business.
The Sheriff's Office said an investigation revealed the business is managed by a female Shelby Township resident and had three female employees. Throughout the investigation, undercover detectives entered the business on several occasions and were propositioned for sexual acts by the females working there. The manager was present at the business accepting money for services. The investigation also showed the manager was a primary source of transportation for the employees.
On Feb. 24, a search warrant was executed for both the business and the manager's home. U.S. Homeland Security and Macomb Area Computer Enforcement (M.A.C.E.) assisted S.E.T. with these warrants. A search of the business produced several ledgers and cash. Four females, including the manager and three employees, were on scene and were all taken into custody. A search warrant was also conducted at the business managerโs residence in Shelby Township. Additional ledgers, business documentation, and cash were located. In total, more than $110,000 was seized from both locations.
The Macomb County Sheriffโs S.E.T. continues to work with Homeland Security regarding the immigration status of the women. Liu and Tu were given a $5,000 personal bond and are scheduled to return to court March 18 at 10 a.m. for a probable cause conference. The manager was released pending further investigation, and the third employee was not charged.
