Totally need to redo my services menu

My current menu of services needs an overhaul.

My big problem is I have no idea how to fit craniosacral into the current menu. It almost needs its own special entry, no?

So perhaps it's not cranio that needs to fit in... perhaps the whole thing needs to be revamped. Not sure how yet. What do you think of the current menu? What would make it better?

I applaud your 60/90/120 minute pricing. For the life of me I can never understand why someone charges less for double the work by discounting the two hour rate under the hourly rate. Given the nmuber of modalities that you offer, it its hard not to get a bit jumbled with all of the options. Have you thought of having one master type of massage/work, where they come in for what the both of you feel is best, to be determined at that time? Listing your specialties can aid them in seeing what you can do, as well as options available. There may be some folks who like the range of choices, others may find it overwhelming.

One thing I was taught is to set a base price for your "standard" services and up-price your specialties. This can be an effective means to highlight those modalities that someone may find more desireable or effective. Not that they are, but the perception is key. You started with you basics after school. Price them as such. Then consider the time and money you spent on your passions; your areas of expertise. You may wish to raise the price of these services to reflect your efforts. Clients will often look at your pricing sheet and choose the higher priced modalities. (Excuse my capitalistic tendencies!)

As for CST, offer it as a specialty option. Just my two cents, which would be priced at three cents for you!

First, I love your site. Very clean, clear, and just enough of your personality. (Geez! I gotta rework my prices!)

I would say you might consider it as a separate modality or one that may be folded into a session to fit the needs/goals.

I would love to see your updates.

I really like your site too! I want to make an appointment right now after visiting there, but it's a bit of a drive...ha.

But I really like how you have the Body, Mind, Spirt, Soul categories worked out. Very helpful and clearly explained for my comprehension, I think even if I was not familiar with massage.

One thing I have a question about is: what is Full Focus and Half Focus when you are talking about your focus areas for a massage? I couldn't figure out what that meant.

As far as where to put craniosacral, I was thinking maybe you could somehow put an "Integrative" category or something like that and explain there that Cranio can both be integrated into most any massage session and (I think?) cranio is kind of integrative as a modality also? Because it can be far reaching systemically and on many levels?

I was thinking today that perhaps I'll take ALL modalities out of the descriptions and make the copy purely about benefits/intentions.

Maybe a short paragraph about modalities at the very beginning.

Walt, I think you raise great point... one thing I'm having to do more than I used to is really clarify whether people are more invested in an expectation that I'm going to rub them with lotion, or that I'm going to do whatever I can to help them with an issue, even if it doesn't look like what they were imagining.

As far as pricing, I'd be hard pressed to charge more, especially in this economy. I think I also need to clarify what people get for the price, in terms of time/service.

Hi Joshua,

I've tossed this about as well, and recently revamped my site. I'm still trying to decide on some sections etc.

I've added a "how we can help" page, and then under services detail what we do. I leave the selection for the initial contact call, and qualification of their needs. I have used "we" as in very short time I'm going to a multiple practitioner practice.

I have also removed pricing from the site as that will change soon. The other practitioners all have different rates, and we are going to standardize our rates. There is also discussion about a sliding scale... but that's off topic for this post.

Where I'm located I don't get much in the way of clients via the web. What I do get is feedback from clients who visit the web for info.

I've tried to get away from the menu, what I do type of site, and move more to the what I can help with site. It's still very much a work in progress, so feel free to comment (anyone).

I would be a bit confused about what it is that you're acutally offering if I didn't know any better. Maybe you should give a little blurb about what each modality that you offer is specifically and then explain that you do more of a fusion style massage?

I get questions all the time about what it is that I'm offering and I feel that it's pretty well spelled out on my site. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think you need to clarify your timeframe/cost, personally.

As far as your prices, WOW! You are getting almost double what I get in my area. Granted, I have heard both how low and high my prices are so I guess that it totally depends on what your clients are used to paying.

I'm with healingtime! I'd be there now if it weren't for the commute The next time I'm on the west coast I may have to schedule something as I have a plan for a coastal trip sometime in the undecided future.

I know my site needs to be totally redone but am not quite sure where to go with it so I can relate to your plight.

Indeed, client education is the key and I could be doing a much better job of it I think.

Well, the issue is that my price is in line with, say, the most popular place in the neighborhood... but whereas there your money gets you 50-55 minutes of bodywork and you're in and out with not much interaction, I give a full 60 minutes on the table plus a full intake and post-session check-in.

I think it'd be good for people to know this when attempting to compare the two.

(So why am I writing about it here and not on my website, other than that I'm tired and cranky? )
