Single life...the good, the bad, the ugly

Yesterday I had another nice evening of dinner, massage and dancing. Today I will have my fave over, probably for the last time in a long while. Then, my time as a single man will be over. But I'm actually not sad about it, here's why:

The Good: it was really nice at the beginning to do what I want, when I want and the freedom was like a breath of fresh air

The Bad: mid way through you realize you're on your own for everything including small things like having to always cook and clean up after yourself. Also, you realize that many of your old buddies are now married with kids so don't have that much time to hang out anymore. Yeah, I played golf and went out a couple of times but it was just okay in terms of the fun factor.

The Ugly: evenings were often very quiet, lonely and boring

It's pretty ironic that most of my single time was actually spent with a few of my faves from hobbying. Fortunately, only the first couple of visits were "paid" sessions. After that, they just came over to hang out, e.g. dinners, movies, walks, outings, so it felt more normal and natural.

But in closing, I realize single life is not for me. I would be curious to hear other guy's opinions out there on being single vs. attached.

I prefer the single life. Far less drama. Several of my buddies are in miserable relationships and its worn on them. I do miss the companionship however.

Humans are a flawed species and it’s human nature to want what we don’t have.

When you’re single, you think marriage and relationships are one long romantic movie. You always do things together, you share everything, you are in love.

When you’re married or in a serious relationship, you think single life, is one long beer commercial. Hanging out with other good looking people, doing exciting things and getting laid all the time.

I’m done being single. There’s a lot of headaches attached to being with someone, but the pros outweigh any of the cons.
I would not bother with MPA’s if I had a good lady in my life. That’s the tough part, finding a good one.

Yeah, I'm with you. Just a couple of weeks of single life was enough to know it's not for me. However, even if you found a "good lady", I suspect that eventually you may drift back into this hobby : )

dogs are annoying. they follow you around. I prefer cats. they take care of themselves most of the time.

When we are in our 20s, it's all about having fun in the singles scene, for many in their 30s it's about settling down, marriage family, come the 40s and mid life crisis hits at some point where you want the single life again, come the 50s your health starts to change, and the 60s you start to reflect on your life, the good, bad, and the ugly, regrets and so on.
This industry mainly survives because of men not happy at home with their marriages, relationships, and seek fantasies, friendships with an MPA to escape all the negative stuff with no strings attached.
A single many has many options these days to have fun with woman, and this industry is an illusion to reality. Spending your single life money and time on MPAs is a waste, unless you have the $$$ to burn and time to waste as there is zero return in the end other than a glorious HE. The older and wiser you become, the more you will value a good woman taking care of you when you are sick, making sure your clothes are clean etc. Sooner or later no one wants to be single and grow old alone in front of a mirror.

Alot of ppl think that but a dog is head and shoulders above a cat in all other aspects. You still have to do shit duty with a cat.

I'm glad you had a chance to relive the single life. It will make you appreciate the married life that you have now all the more. It's like living your own version of Its a Wonderful Life.

Yes, you are right, I do appreciate what I have now. During these last couple of weeks, I got quite close to what I would say is one of my top 1-2 faves. The nights out dancing made it seem real but of course I have to keep reminding myself it's just a fantasy. I just got out of one rabbit hole so don't want to fall into another one. But I think the experience with my first "honey" will definitely help me navigate this hobby (which is not reality) better going forward.

Thanks for the warning. I agree at the end of the day most of these ladies are looking out for themselves and it's about the money. Having said that, in my experience, the degrees of "greediness" vary a lot and some ladies are actually quite considerate and generous with both their time and other stuff.
