Poison Ivy on arm sometimes

I may have posted something about this years ago, but I didn't find anything in a search. So, I have 2 indoor/outdoor cats who bring in poison ivy on their fur. I'm guessing from petting them and having them sleep in my lap, I often get poison ivy rashes on my arms and elsewhere. I've just recently taken to wearing long sleeve shirts and pants around the house at all times to see if that will help reduce the occurrence of the rashes. Seeing as the rash itself is not coneforum.xxxious (one has to be exposed to the plant oil directly), though very unsightly and sometimes weepy, I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to cover up the rash and still be able to work with the forearms. The only solutions I can think of are bandage and saran wrap, or just not using the forearms.

My best idea is an arm length nitrile glove, like this one. It is a veterinary glove, hopefully it would stay in place.

Having had to wear the long black gloves at one time to help a vet with a particularly difficult calving, they don't stay up that well....

The blue nitrile are reasonably good at staying where they are supposed to be... I have difficulty "perceiving" through them though....

Another thought, have you tried taking Rhus tox to get rid of your poison ivy rash? Also, is there any other type of plant poison your babies could be wandering through? sumac? poison oak?

Another thing you might try on "unweepy" rashes, etc is "New Skin" or other products like it - liquid bandage that covers the area and keeps it from being in direct contact with another person's skin.....

Thanks for the suggestions. Those gloves look scary and remind me of RHPS. I haven't tried the Rhus tox and couldn't find any scientific studies online about it's efficacy.

Since Rhus tox is a homeopathic remedy, I doubt that you will find much information through MD sources. Look for information on it through "natural" or alternative or complementary medical sources
