inapropriate behaviour? My girlfriend accepts many friend requests on Facebook from random guys all over the world and chats with them, sometimes on Skype video chat. I trust that she would never cheat on me, but is this kind of behaviour inappropriate if two people are in a committed relationship? Her behaviour does bother me. I have a strong feeling that random guys see her profile online, think she's pretty, then contact her. Her status on Facebook is still "single" and her profile is open to everyone. When I ask her about it, she says that their just friends, that I shouldn't be so anti-social, that the relationships are innocent and that she would never leave or cheat on me with any random guy. I believe her, but why am I still bothered by her behaviour?

In another situation, my girlfriend's ex came back to town to visit family and asked to see her to talk and settle some bad blood between them over some things he did to her in the past. She told me and said it was important to her that she get the explanations from her ex. She still talks to her ex frequently and her ex even went so far as to say he was jealous that she now had a boyfriend. I told her I felt uncomfortable with her seeing her ex. I asked her to put herself in my shoes, and she said that if I told her it was important to see my ex to settle bad blood, that it wouldn't bother her because it was important to me.

Am I too possessive? Am I an overly jealous boyfriend? Am I insecure?

You are insecure. Whether you're too possessive or overly jealous depends on the boundaries of your relationship.

Cheating is different things to different people, if her behaviour makes you feel rejected and unhappy then she's crossing a boundary of yours. Fact is though, she probably doesn't realise she is doing that. Talk to her open and honestly having first decided what it is that bothers you and why her behaviour isn't acceptable to you.

The alternative is to get over your insecurity, realise that she's with you for a reason and that it didn't work with her ex for a reason.

NO. you're not possessive or overly jealous. It really is inappropriate. Tell her EXACTLY what you feel and even ask her to put herself in your position. I mean wouldn't she flip if you were spending all this tim with WOMEN on the internet..skyping and facebook chatting. She'd be so mad ! Tell her. Because even if its the internet, its equivalent to her going out and flirting with all these guys even if she does nothing with them, it still very much counts. It would bother me a lot of my guy did that to me. and Im not the jealous type AT ALL.

AND SHE SAYS SHES SINGLE ON FACEBOOK?pleeeeaaaaasseee. Because its the internet, makes it NO different. Its like she's going around telling people she has no boyfriend. She wants guys to flirt with her obviously, I mean if shes pretty and stuff like that then...heck,the guys would totally flirt with her. She acts like you are not a part of her life, and you deserve every bit of respect as she does.

Tell her to change the facebook status or you are calling it quits.

a girl whose facebook status is single means she wants the world to see her as single.
this goes especially if her page is open to everyone. if she goes on facebook enough to
accept worldwide friendship requests, she is on long enough to change her relationship
status. youre not being possessive. she is in the wrong and you should tell her how you
feel.
