More young people are waiting longer before having sex for the first time, according to a U.S. study. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics found almost a third of all 15- to 24-year-olds have never had any type of sexual contact.

More than 27% of males in the age group had not lost their virginity, according to the data collected from 2006 to 2008. That's up from 22% in 2002.

For females, more than 29% were still virgins — up from 22% in 2002.
It’s not just vaginal intercourse the teens and young adults are abstaining from, according to the data. It’s any type of sexual contact — including oral and anal sex.

Among teenagers aged 15-19, 7% of females and 9% of males said they’d had oral sex with an opposite-sex partner, but no vaginal intercourse.

I myself was 16... :shock:

My son will be 18 in a few months and as far as I know he's not there yet. We've had the talk, and he knows exactly where the condoms are, and he has been instructed to USE them at his discretion, (as have our daughters mind you but they just roll their eyes

), they don't have to ask... and I will replenish them whenever the supply gets low. So far, I have not had to buy any more. :great:

And no, they do not have a weight or self esteem problem! They have just been very well educated.

first 3 way at 17 but the girls were both straight so it was pretty hard to keep them both happy at once....know a few more tricks these days but no ones offering lol

I think making the group 15-24 is kinda pointless as its too large. Theres a world of difference between inexperienced 15 year olds and inexperienced 24 year olds. A breakdown by 1, 2 or even 3 year groups would be more meaningful.

If I was your kid I certainly would not want my parents knowing my sexual activity and therefore would just be buying my own domes or go to the doc and get on the pill if a girl.

Kids feel weird talking about sex with their parents so they usually just tell them what they think that their parents need to hear.

OK, so maybe they're just blowing smoke when we hear them and their friends say they have the coolest parents ever, but they do talk to us about these sorts of things.

No punch bowl, but there is a drawer, and I put a dozen condoms in it, and there are STILL a dozen there. If they are buying their own, that's fine, but the message is loud and clear, BE RESPONSIBLE. We already KNOW they're gonna have sex... (They are they're parents kids after all), and they KNOW their parents are very "sexual" and they have been taught that sex can a wonderful and fun activity, but they also know they have to be responsible about it. :shock:
