Court docs: God told massage therapist ‘to touch people’ - MSN

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Prosecutors have filed another case against 46-year-old Kurt Smit stemming from incidents that allegedly happened at the Sioux Falls business where he worked.


According to court documents, this time he told his employer that God told him to do it.

In January, we heard from a woman who claimed she’d been groped by a massage therapist in Sioux Falls. Court documents said she wasn’t the only victim, and police said more charges were possible.

Shortly after KELOLAND News’ original stories aired that month, a woman recognized Smit and decided to contact law enforcement.

Court documents say she visited Massage Envy regularly. She told police it had always been a positive experience until May of last year.

Suspect behind bars, accused of trying to hit people with car

At the beginning of her massage, the woman said she was on her back with a sheet over her. She told police that Smit placed his hands under the sheet and onto her stomach. He then started to “grope” her breasts.

The victim said she then moved to a face-down position. Court documents say Smit started to massage her upper inner thigh. She told him this made her feel uncomfortable. He responded that the area was “tight”, and he was trying to “release some of the tension.”

Authorities also talked to the owner and Smit’s manager at Massage Envy who suspended him because of the allegations.

Court documents say Smit told his manager he had a “gift from God,” and God wanted him “to touch people in places” that the business does not allow.

According to court documents, at least four women have come forward claiming that Smit fondled them. Two of the victims decided to press charges.

Smit now faces two counts of sexual contact without consent. He has two court appearances scheduled for next week.
